Lankaran Regional Research Center is conducting research on priority areas

June 19-20, 2017 vice-president of ANAS, academician Dilgam Tagiyev, academician-secretary of the Department of Earth Sciences, Academician Fakhraddin Gadirov and director of the Institute of Botany Valida Alizadeh visited the Lankaran regional scientific center.

Director of the Center, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Farman Guliyev informed the guests in detail about the structure, directions of activity of the institution he directed and the studies conducted here.

Then, Academician Dilgam Tagiyev congratulated the invaluable meritor in the history of the development of Azerbaijani agrarian science F.Guliyev on his 80th anniversary on behalf of the Presidium and awarded the scientist with the Certificate of Honor of ANAS.

Academician D.Tagiyev emphasized the importance of conducting the Lankaran regional scientific center of research together with the fundamental scientific research institutes of ANAS and selecting priority directions in accordance with local conditions.

Then, speaking, Academician Fakhraddin Gadirov reminded of the call of the head of state at the General Meeting of ANAS "Azerbaijan should turn into a scientific center!". In response to this call, the Presidium of ANAS increased attention to strengthening the activities of scientific institutions in the regions and conducting modern scientific research.

Academician Valida Alizadeh spoke about the research works to be carried out in the Lankaran zone in the modern directions of botany.

Further, the delegation got acquainted with the practical field of the Department of subtropical plants of the center, monitoring of archeological monuments of the region in the Department of Archeology and works on the identification of new monuments.

The recommendation was made for the creation together with the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS of the Archaeological Foundation and the Archaeological and Ethnographic Open-Air Museum at the Lankaran Regional Scientific Center.

The meeting emphasized the importance of coordination of scientific research conducted at the Lankaran regional scientific center with scientific research of the main institutes of ANAS. Also, discussions were held in connection with the implementation of joint projects in the relevant fields.

In conclusion, answers were given to questions of interest to the team members.
