Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On July 24, an event was held within the framework of “ Year of Islamic Solidarity” at the Institute of History of ANAS.

Director of the Egyptian Center for Relations in the field of Culture and Education of the embassy of Egypt to Azerbaijan Ahmed Sami Elaydi, presented 10 thousand books translated to the Institute. Among them are works of modern Arab and Egyptian historians, "Ottoman state in modern Islamic history", "How the Ottoman state collapsed", "Iraqi culture", "Arabic literature history" and other books, philosophy, Literature, poetry, hadiths and dictionaries.

Director of the Institute, academician Yagub Mahmudov highly appreciated the present. The book "Karabakh: real history, facts, documents" and "Irevan khanate: Russian conquest and resettlement of Armenians on the lands of Northern Azerbaijan" translated into Arabic by the Institute's employees.

Ahmed Sami Elaidi highly appreciated the cultural ties between the countries. Interest to the Azerbaijani language in Egypt is very high, Azerbaijani language and literature is taught at the University of Ain-ul-Shams. Annually about 100 students study the Azerbaijani language at the university, Baku and Cairo have been successfully exchanging students since 2005, the guest underlined.

"The Egyptian Center for Relations in the field of culture and education in Azerbaijan is the first and only Arab cultural center that has been operating in Baku since 1999," he said.

In turn, the director of the Institute, academician Yagub Makhmudov thanked Elaidi for cooperation.
