ANAS Institute of Manuscripts held the XV traditional republican scientific and theoretical conference on "Molla Panah Vagif: predecessors and followers - early modern manuscripts and historical problems of Azerbaijani culture" dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Molla Panah Vagif on October 24.

At the event, Deputy Director of the Institute for Scientific Work, Doctor of Philology Aybeniz Aliyeva-Kangarly spoke about the invaluable services of M.P.Vagif in the development of national poetry and native language. She stressed that, realistic poetry and a new stage of Azerbaijani literature began with Vagif.

Then, Deputy Director of the Institute for Scientific Work, Ph.D Pasha Kerimov in his speech reminded the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On holding the 300th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Molla Panah Vagif" and brought to the notice that this significant event is celebrated in the scientific and educational institutions of the country.

At the plenary session of the conference was listened reports of P.Kerimov on "The theme of old age in the Azerbaijani poetry of the XVII-XIX centuries", head of the Department of the Institute, Professor Azada Musabeyli on "Baku manuscripts of two Turkish followers of Vagif", senior researcher of the Institute of Folklore Sahila Sadnigizi on "The influence of ashug literature on the work of Molla Panah Vagif", associate professor of Ganja State University, Ph.D in Philology Afag Yusifli.

In conclusion, the participants got acquainted with the exhibition "Vagif -100".
