Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On December 20, the 19th congress of the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan was held at Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall named after Muslim Magomayev.

The participants of the congress honored the memory of Heydar Aliyev, national leader of our nation, the architect and founder of modern Azerbaijan, and laid a wreath on his grave.

They also laid flowers on the grave ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva and prominent architect, academician Mikail Useynov.

Then, a wreath was laid in front of the "Eternal Torch" monument in the Alley of Martyrs, a memorial of the heroes of the heroes of the Motherland, who died in the struggle for independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Then the participants got acquainted with the exhibition "Azerbaijan Architecture".

Opening the event, chairman of the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan Elbay Gasimzade spoke about the development path of this kind of art in our country. He noted that the development of architecture is in the spotlight of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva. Today, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, historical and architectural monuments are being restored in Azerbaijan and around the world.

At the congress, the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Economic Affairs Ali Asadov read a congratulatory letter of President Ilham Aliyev's.

Then a number of well-known architects were awarded prizes by the order of President Ilham Aliyev. "Memorial Medal of Academician Mikail Huseynov" and "Master Architect" certificates were also given to laureates.

Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfaz Garayev spoke at the event and spoke about the state's support for the development of architecture. He said that thanks to this support, our country is currently experiencing architectural renaissance. Along with the construction of new and modern buildings in Azerbaijan, repair and restoration of ancient architectural monuments are also in the center of attention. Great leader Heydar Aliyev paid special attention to creation of beautiful architectural samples in Azerbaijan during the former Soviet Union. President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva are continuing this work today.

Other speakers at the ceremony spoke about the importance of the event and spoke about the development of modern Azerbaijani architecture.

President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh also attended the 19th congress of the Union of Architects of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
