Conducting astrophysical experiments in nanosatellites discussed

ANAS Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory after N.Tusi (ShAO) hosted an event devoted to the discussion of astrophysical experiments in nanosatellites, which will be launched in Azerbaijan for the first time.

The event was attended by Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov, Professor of the University of Maryland, academician Roald Sagdiyev, Chairman of Azerkosmos OJSC Rashad Nabiyev, Deputy Chairman Rovshan Rustamov and employees of the National Aviation Academy - Professors Enver Khazarkhanov and Adalat Samedov.

Opening the event, director of the ShAO, correspondent member of ANAS Namig Jalilov told the guests about scientific research conducted in recent years in the observatory. The scientist noted that, scientific research is conducted mainly on two issues included in the direction "Physics and dynamics of celestial bodies" - a comprehensive study of stars and galaxies and the physics and dynamics of particles of the Sun and the Solar System. In addition, the observatory also conducts research in the field of theoretical astrophysics, cosmology, radio astronomy, ionospheric synthesis of high-frequency radio signals and their dependence on various space borne factors, the history of astronomy,

Then, deputy director for scientific affairs of the observatory, Ph.D. in physics Khidir Mikailov delivered a report on "Observing capabilities of the ShAO". He noted that, the conditions created in the instrument cluster and the two-meter telescope of the observatory make it possible to conduct astronomical observations corresponding to modern standards.

Then, head of the Department of Physics of Stellar Atmospheres and Magnetism of the ShAO, PhD in Physics and Mathematics Rustamov Jamammad delivered his report on "Solving astrophysical problems in nanosatellites". J.Rustamov stressed that, spectral observations, which will be carried out using a two-meter telescope, will allow to more accurately understand the physical processes taking place in massive giant stars and make a correct model of these processes.

At the event, discussions were held on the choice of optical and technical parameters of small telescopes that will be installed in nanosatellites. In particular, Academician Roald Sagdiyev gave useful advice on conducting astronomical observations in nanosatellites.

In conclusion, guests got acquainted with the museum and the telescope of the ShAO.
