Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On April 20, at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) within the framework of the project "Our Language and Morality" a "round table" was held on "Oral folk literature of Azerbaijan and language".

At the event, director of ANAS Institute of Folklore, head of the Azerbaijan Literature Department of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, academician Mukhtar Imanov raised questions concerning the language of samples of oral folk literature, which was literary, national, local or dialect. The scientist also spoke about a comparative study of these examples with mythological thinking.

Director of ANAS Institute of Linguistics after Nasimi, leading researcher of the Scientific Research Laboratory of Azerbaijan Studies, academician Mohsun Nagisoylu, spoke about the origin of archaisms and their etymological features, which differ in the specifics of oral folk literature, as well as the history of the development of these words in the literary language.

At the event, head of the department of methodology of teaching the Azerbaijani language and literature of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, doctor of philological sciences, Professor Azizhan Tanriverdi spoke about the language of images, principles of alliteration, rhetoric of the epic "Kitabi-Dede Gorgud".

Speaking about the different interpretation of the term "syntagmatic" in linguistics, Professor Niyazi Mehti spoke about the styles and types of oral folk literature. It was noted that, in the samples of oral folk literature the events that took place in the life of the people are reflected. In "Kitabi-Dede Gorgud", "Koroglu" and other epics we get acquainted with the most significant events that took place in the life of our people. Epics, proverbs and bayat teach us love for the Motherland, patriotism and other human qualities.
