Turkish scientist Yavuz Akpinar has been presented "Scienctist of the Year" award at the Institute of Literature

By the decision of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS, Turkish writer, researcher, professor Yavuz Akpınar was awarded the "Science of the Year" prize.

On April 23, the award ceremony was held at the Electronic Hall of the Institute.

The event was opened by the vice-president of ANAS, director of the institute, academician Isa Habibbayli and said that A. Akpinar was awarded for this research in the direction of studying and propaganda of Azerbaijani literature in Turkey.

I.Habibbeyli later talked about A.Akpinar's research on the Azerbaijani literature since the Soviet era. He noted that the doctor defended his doctorate about Mirza Fatali Akhundov, the great playwright of Azerbaijan, as well as about newspapers "Ekinchi", "Shergi-Rus", "Hayat", "Fuyuzat", "Molla Nasreddin", "Yeni Gafgasya”.

Professor Yavuz Akpınar later said that he had come to Azerbaijan for the first time in 1970. He noted that the scientist opened doors to the Turkic world, and he began to study literature of Azerbaijan and then Uzbekistan.

Y.Akpınar has said that he has prepared a 120-page book about Azerbaijan's history, including about 10 untold articles. The scientist said that there were important facts in the Turkish sources on the history of Azerbaijan, newspapers and magazines, as well as prominent writers.

The event was also attended by doctor of philology Shirinind Alishanov, Ph.D. in philology Nikpur Jabbarli, Director of the Baku Turkish Cultural Center of Yunus Emre Institute, Jihan Ozdemir and others spoke about Yavuz Akpınar's research on Azerbaijani literature, services and development of literary relations between the two countries.
