Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The book "Expository dictionary of ayamas in Azerbaijani language" was published by the leading scientific worker of modern Azerbaijani language department of the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi of ANAS, professor Gara Mashadiyev.

The book contains words expressing completely different meaning in modern literary language, dialects and poems. The dictionary provides brief information about each verse (nickname).

Such works are useful for studying the ethnic identity of the people and the role of the Turkish tribes participating in the formation of their language.

Linguists, ethnographers, language and literature teachers, and bachelors and masters of the philology faculties may benefit from the dictionary.
