ANAS Institute of Economy held a scientific and practical conference on "Heydar Aliyev - the founder of the strategy of economic development of independent Azerbaijan", dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.

At the event, which took place at the main building of ANAS, a minute of silence was honored by the memory of the outstanding leader.

Opening the conference, director of the Institute, doctor of economic sciences, Professor Nazim Imanov noted that, the basis of modern development of Azerbaijan is the strategic economic reforms carried out by the national leader in the 1990s. Heydar Aliyev, who was ahead of his time, saw further development of the country in eliminating the state monopoly over the economy, developing entrepreneurship and liberalizing the economy.

N.Imanov also noted that, with the signing of the "Contract of the Century" in 1994, the foundation of Azerbaijan's oil strategy was laid, for a short time the country's revenues increased, the investment flow began.

Noting that, great leader got into the history of Azerbaijan as the author of radical land reforms, the scientist brought to attention that according to the Law "On Land Reform", adopted in 1996 and for the first time in the post-Soviet space the basis for private ownership of land was laid.

It was noted that, Decrees signed by the national leader on the "State Program on the Development of Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurship in the Republic of Azerbaijan (2002-2005)", "On Additional Measures in the Field of State Care for the Development of Entrepreneurship in the Republic of Azerbaijan" and " Hindering the development of entrepreneurship", an enabling environment was created for intensive development of the private sector and entrepreneurship in our country.

Then, were listened reports by the corresponding member of ANAS Shahbaz Muradov on "Heydar Aliyev Strategy of Economic Development: Results, Problems and Tasks", doctor of economy, Professor Tofig Huseynov on "Heydar Aliyev and Industrial Policy of Azerbaijan", doctor of economy, Professor Isa Aliyev on "Heydar Aliyev and Agrarian Policy in Azerbaijan" and doctor of economy, Professor Rena Sultanova on "Heydar Aliyev and Regional Economic Policy of Azerbaijan".
