The winners of the All-Republic Olympiad in Informatics among university students were awarded.

"Azltelecom" LLC, Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technology, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Education and ANAS Institute of Information Technology held awarding ceremony All-Republican Olympiad winners in computer sciences. The event was dedicated to May 17 - World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on May 17.

At the event, was demonstrated the video greetings of the General-Secretary of the International Telecommunication Union Houlin Zao on the occasion of May 17 - World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.

Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technology Ramin Guluzadeh also congratulated the winners and wished success. He noted that, ICT is one of the most dynamically developing spheres in the world. In Azerbaijan, this area is constantly in the spotlight of President Ilham Aliyev.

Ramin Guluzadeh brought to attention that, since 2006 annually are held various events devoted to May 17 - on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day in the world. Noting that, the theme of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day this year is "Artificial Intelligence", Minister Ramin Guluzadeh said that, in our country among university students to educate young people, which will contribute to the development of intellectual potential.

He said that, the Olympiads which have been held for over 10 years play an important role in developing programming skills among young people.

Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov noted that, the ICT field in the world is one of the priorities. In Azerbaijan, the ICT sector is constantly at the center of attention, are signed important documents and a number of state programs are approved.

It was noted that, the All-Republican Olympiad in computer science among university students was held in two stages. At the 1st stage which held on April 29 of the Olympiad attendant the 62 teams from 25 higher educational republic institutions and in the 2nd (final) stage - 14 teams from 14 higher educational institutions of the republic.

The final stage of the Olympiad was held by usage the material and technical base of the Institute of ANAS Information Technology.

The 1 place won Baku Engineering University, the 2nd place the ADA University, 3nd place - the Baku State University, the 4th place - Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Baku Higher School of Oil, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, Baku branch of the Moscow State University after M.V.Lomonosov were awarded with the certificates.

At the event, the winners awarded Certificates of Honor and Diplomas by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, as well as awards from sponsors - the "Nar Mobile" operator and the "BestComp Group"company.
