ANAS Ganja Division held a scientific conference on "Azerbaijan Democratic Republic - the 1st democratic state in the East".

Chairman of the department, academician Fuad Aliyev opened the meeting. He spoke about the significance of the orders of President Ilham Aliyev related to the announcement of the 2018 in the country "Year of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" and "On the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic".

Speaking on role of ADR in the history of statehood, the scientist stressed that, Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan had a progressive government, among Muslim states for the first time in ADR women were granted equal rights with men, including the right to vote. He noted that, the formation of the Republic as a state occurred in Ganja, the 1st capital of the ADR.

Academician Fuad Aliyev also informed about 4 books prepared by the Ganja Division as a contribution to the 100th anniversary of the Republic.

Then, head of the department of the Institute of Local-lore of the Division, doctor of history, Professor Hasanbala Sadigov delivered a report on "Ganja - the capital and military headquarters of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic". In his speech, the speaker brought to the attention of those present that more than 210 legal acts serving to establish and strengthen the public administration system of the ADR were adopted in Ganja, the Caucasian Islamic Army was established and strengthened in Ganja and the original capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, was cleared of Bolsheviks-Dashnaks.

At the event the report of the scientific secretary of the Institute of Local History of the department of Matanat Aliyeva on "State Decrees on the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" was listened. Speaking about the fact that the Republic left an indelible mark in the history of our national statehood, M.Aliyeva informed in detail about the state documents adopted in 1991-2018 in connection with the ADR.

At the conference, were delivered reports by head of the Public Relations Department of Division Aytan Ismayilova "The Caucasian Islamic Army and Ganja", the specialist of this Division Ayaz Huseynov on "State figures from the Ganja province of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" and head of the Department of Nizami Ganjavi Center Tarana Verdiyeva on " Legal acts adopted by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in Ganja, and an accurate chronology of its history".
