An international conference titled "Independent statehood tradition in the Turkic world and modern problems of development" kicked off

An international conference titled "Independent statehood tradition in the Turkic world and modern problems of development" has started at ANAS Central Scientific Library on June 28.

Academician Akif Alizadeh, President of ANAS, opened the event with participation of scientists from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan and other countries. He emphasized the importance of the international conference from the point of history of centuries-old scientific and cultural relations of Turkic peoples. He said that the event will focus on the issues of cooperation between the Turkic-speaking countries in the field of civilization, science, education and culture, socio-political processes in the region and other topics.

Touching upon the relations between the Turkic-speaking countries in the field of science and education, the head of ANAS expressed confidence that, cooperation in this direction will be further expanded.

Later, academician A.Alizade talked about the history of ANAS and its development path. He informed about the master's degree organized for the first time since 2015. Speaking about the activity of the ANAS High Technologies Park created with the support of President Ilham Aliyev, the scientist said that various innovation projects were implemented in recent years in order to commercialize the science in the Academy. He noted that ANAS is closely cooperating with the influential scientific centers of the world, including the academies of Turkic speaking countries.

Vice-President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the Turkic World Academy of Sciences. The organization was established in 2015 to co-ordinate the activities of the academies of the member-states of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, to carry out joint scientific projects, to prepare multidimensional publications and to make a joint scientific position, the scientist underlined.

Over the last 5 years ANAS has signed a cooperation agreement with scientific institutions of more than 30 countries, and more than 10 international laboratories have been created with the aim of conducting research with modern methods and technologies, academician I.Habibbeyli noted.

Vice-president of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, proposed to establish a joint magazine by the Turkish World Academy of Sciences, emphasizing its positive impact on the integration process in member states. He also emphasized the importance of establishing awards named after scientists from the Turkic world. Different awards can be given for the Turkic world. For example, Yunus Emre, Yusif Mammadaliyev and other prizes can be established, the scientist stated.

The main goal of the organization is to strengthen relations between the Turkic-speaking peoples, to explore the cultural heritage of the Turkic world, to promote and transmit to future generations. One of the activities of the Foundation is related to the preserve of cultural heritage, Gunay Efendiyeva, president of International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation lined out.

The secretary of the International Turkic Academy, Askhat Kesikbayev, spoke over the organization's activities. He said that, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to establish an international scientific center for research on the Turkic world at the IV Summit of Turkic Speaking States held in Azerbaijan on October 3, 2009. The Turkic Academy was set up at the summit in Bishkek on 23 August 2012 on the initiative of Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Turkey. The Academy has received the status of an international organization on August 27, 2014.

Professor Ahmet Jevat Ajar, President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TAS) made a report on “The importance of scientific cooperation and the role of TAS in the Turkic world”, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, academician Maksum Salahov on "Cultural and socio-political relations between Tatarstan and Azerbaijan: traditions and modernity”, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan, academician Alfis Gayazov delivered a speech on "Bashkortostan and Azerbaijan: Development Perspectives and Cooperation in the “Pakh Turan” space” Vice-President of TAS, Professor Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev on "International Scientific Organizations and Scientific Institutions of the Turkic World ".

The conference will last until July 29.
