Summer school of young chemists opened in Shamakhi

An event titled "Summer School for Young Chemists - 2018" was held for young people conducting chemistry research, organized by the Department of Chemical Sciences and the Young Scientists and Specialists Council.

A summer school was opened at Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory on July 4.

Firstly, the participants were provided with detailed information about the science center on the basis of the exhibitions held at the lobby of the observatory.

Academician-secretary of the Department of Chemistry, Academician Dilgam Taghiyev said that the “Summer School of Young Chemists – 2018” was the first such initiative in the history of the Academy. He noted that such schools are of special importance for young scholars and specialists to know each other closely and to exchange views on topical issues in the informal environment. The scientist pointed out that 34 physicians, 16 doctoral students and 6 masters from 4 institutes included in the summer school of chemists participated in a total of 34 young specialists.

Director of the observatory, corresponding member of ANAS Namig Jalilov wished success to the participants of the summer school, expressed his views on the interaction of astrophysical science and chemistry and emphasized the importance of discussions on this subject.

Speaking about the importance of the summer school, the chairman of the Young Scientists and Specialists Council, PhD in Physics, Associate Professor Famin Salmanov noted that this event, which was held for the first time, was more than expected. Many young scientists and specialists who are distinguished by their research in chemistry have gained the right to attend a summer school. He informed young people about the purpose and format of summer school.

Following the official opening of the event, lectures were listened on 4 actual topics and exchange of views was made between young chemists.

It should be noted that within 5 days young chemists will improve their knowledge of new priorities of chemistry by participating in various scientific, intellectual and entertaining events, as well as spend their time in the summer season effectively.

In the days following, the participants will watch the stars with a telescope, watch documentary films about the stars system, and tour the historic sites in the Shamakhi region.

At the end of the event participants will be given certificates and gifts.
