The first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation "Knowledge" under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held at the Presidium of ANAS. The meeting, chaired by the President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh was attended by members of the Board of Trustees.

Speaking at the beginning, the Executive Director of the Knowledge Foundation, Oktay Samadov told about the activities of the Foundation, established on May 7, 2014 by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The practice of the Foundation includes the development of knowledge in the scientific, technical, socio-economic, humanitarian areas, taking into account the requirements of the modern information society and the economy, as well as the promotion of national-cultural and religious values based on the ideology of "Azerbaijanism", he also told in detail about training courses and associations organized for young people.

Member of the Board of Trustees, Assistant to the President on social and political issues - head of the Department Ali Hasanov positively assessing the four-year activity of the Knowledge Foundation, expressed confidence that the members of the Council appointed by the Presidential Decree would justify their high confidence.

The Presidential assistant gave to the “Knowledge” Foundation recommendations related to the systematization of thoughts and ideas that the state seeks to convey to the general public, ensuring the diversity of forms and content of national propaganda, inviting Council members to events held by the Knowledge Foundation in the capital and regions popularization among the younger generation of history and culture, the national and spiritual values of our people, wider use of the media’s opportunities in public education creating a new educational web site in order to accurately and correctly bringing the Azerbaijani realities to a wider audience.

The speakers shared their views and opinions on the future activities of the Foundation and made suggestions and recommendations.

Minister of Culture Abulfaz Garayev stressed that, the Knowledge Fund closely cooperates with the Ministry, relevant institutions and organizations, in particular in the regions. He noted the need, through the Knowledge Fund, to attract entrepreneurs to the cultural enlightenment of young people, acquaintance with exhibitions and museums, increase their interest in cinema and theatrical art, as well as replenish the base of libraries.

Stressing that, the Foundation "Knowledge" has great opportunities for educating the young generation in the spirit of love for the Motherland and the state, the Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov noted that the Foundation "Knowledge" will become an assistant in regularly conducting educational activities in youth homes and Olympic complexes operating in the regions, the implementation of joint projects in the ministry and its subordinate structures.

Recalling the projects implemented by the Knowledge Foundation with its structure, including the project “let’s go to the library with whole family”, met with great interest in society, Chairman of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Issues noted the importance of highlighting a special place in educational activities of the Foundation to activities related to the promotion of the ideology of Azerbaijanism, increasing the scientific knowledge of young people.

The Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations Mubariz Gurbanlyi, noting the close cooperation of the Foundation "Knowledge" and the organization led by him, advised that special attention should be paid to coordinating the activities of enterprises and organizations, issuing documentaries and feature films that serve religious education of the population.

Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov spoke about the importance of the Knowledge Fund’s activities in educational institutions of the country, especially in secondary schools, and recommended paying attention to the environmental education of adolescents and young people, joint implementation of various content projects and studying the demand for educational materials on sociological research.

Summing up the meeting, the chairman of the Board of Trustees, president of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh told about the issues of ensuring the active participation of the Foundation "Knowledge" in the integration of science and education, attracting scientists to live communication with young people, providing support in conducting scientific tours and expeditions, brought to the attention the importance of more efficient use of the scientific personnel potential of ANAS in educational projects.

Academician wished success to the members of the Council in further activities and expressed confidence that under the auspices of the Council in the new composition the Foundation will continue to actively participate in the formation of educated human capital in the country.
