Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov delivered a lecture devoted to the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADA) at Azerbaijan University.

The lecture covered the socio-political situation and education reforms in our country and South Caucasus at the time of the ADA's establishment.

It was noted that, the founders of the Republic attach great importance to the issues of comprehensive education, public awareness and training of national cadres. The proclamation of the Azerbaijani language as a state language has been the first and most important measure of nationalization of schools.

In his speech, the scientist spoke about the reforms carried out during the 23 months of the ADR board in the administration of the education system, including preparing textbooks, sending 100 young people to study abroad, creating Baku State University, expanding the network of primary education institutions, and also revealed an interesting information about innovations, statistical data. Particular attention was paid to the activities of Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev in charity and education.

A special place has been devoted to Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev's education and philanthropic activity.

Then, M.Mardanov congratulated the staff of the university on the 5th of October - International Day of Teachers, stressing the great role of teachers in the progress of the society.

In conclusion, scientist donated to the university books by him “Education in ADRs” (1918-1920), “Azerbaijanis studying at universities until 1920” (encyclopedic edition), “Pupil’s Mathematical Explanatory Dictionary”, “Essays on the history of education Azerbaijan and our first higher education”.
