On October 24, a scientific conference on the theme "The first democratic republic of the East" was held at the Main building of ANAS.

The conference, organized by the Institute of Oriental Studies named after academician Z.Bunyadov, was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR).

Speaking at the event, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, academician Govhar Bakhshaliyeva emphasized the importance of the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated May 16, 2017 "About the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" and talked about the activities of the ADR. It was noted that the Head of State also signed an order on declaring 2018 as the "Year of the People's Republic of Azerbaijan". Under this important document, the 100th anniversary of the ADR in Azerbaijan and abroad was celebrated at a high level with various events.

It was stressed that the creation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which is one of the glorious pages of Azerbaijan and occupies an important place in our modern statehood history, is of great importance not only for our country, but for the whole East.

Speaking on the topic of "Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is our history of honor and dignity", MP Fazail Ibrahimli stressed the political processes, socio-political situation and historical events in the country and around the world during his tenure, and highlighted some of the facts. .

Academician-Secretary of the Department of Social Sciences, Academician Nargiz Akhundova noted that the event has been held in the ANAS every year in connection with the Republic's jubilee. Azerbaijan Republic is a moral, legal heir of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and our scientists have uncovered facts that have not been uncovered during this period, and that they are conducting research in this direction, she added.

Reports on "The ideological problems of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic - Iranian relations", "Financial policy of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: principles and main directions" and other topics were heard at the event.
