Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) held a ceremony of signing of Understanding Memorandum between ANAS and State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Republic (SCC) on November 8.

Opening the event, President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh spoke about the importance of cooperation between the State Customs Committee. Academician stressed the need for joint activities in terms of the use of research results during export-import operations and operational search activities, the use of information technology, mutual support and the exchange of experience in connection with educational and research tasks, the implementation of joint projects and programs.

Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Customs Service lieutenant-general Mehdiyev Safar spoke about the activities of the SCC educational centers, customs reforms, the foundation of which was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully conducted by AR President Ilham Aliyev, the attention and care of the state and prospects for further cooperation with the ANAS institutes. Speaking about the importance of scientific cooperation aimed at improving the quality of the relevant areas of customs services, Safar Mehdiyev expressed confidence that in the future business cooperation between the ANAS and the State Customs Committee will develop closely.

Head of the Academy of the State Customs Committee, PhD in Law, Associate Professor, Customs Service Colonel Gulu Novruzov delivered a paper on : “Customs Service: Transparency of Public Relations, Open Research Resources”. In the paper, he spoke about the impact of global changes on the customs service, components of the customs service related to national interests, innovative projects, customs policy in the country, infrastructural innovations that are used in border areas, the committee’s relations with local and foreign organizations. The speaker stressed the importance of cooperation between the ANAS and the State Customs Committee in the field of science and education.

Then, Vice-President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli, Vice-President of ANAS, academician Irada Huseynova, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, academician Rasim Alguliyev, Academician-Secretary of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS, academician Amiraslanov Ahliman noted that, the memorandum was successful step aimed at the implementation of joint activities and expressed their confidence that this will lead to even greater cooperation.

Then, a memorandum of understanding was signed between ANAS and the State Customs Committee. The document reflects such issues as the creation of conditions for masters, doctoral students and PhDs, who conduct research related to customs, as well as study in relevant specialties, the widespread use of information technology to more easily and quickly obtain relevant data during scientific surveys, etc.

The document was signed by academician Akif Alizadeh and Customs Service lieutenant-general Safar Mehdiyev.
