Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Academician Akif Alizadeh, ANAS president has been in a scientific trip in St. Petersburg, Russia. He  attended "Russia and the East. The 200th Anniversary of the Russian Oriental Studies " international forum, dedicated to the 200th jubilee of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

Head of ANAS delivered a lecture on "Modern Azerbaijani Science" at the event organized by the Saint Petersburg Trade Union Humanitarian University..

A.Alizade emphasized attention shown by the Azerbaijani state to the development of science and education.

More than 300 academicians from 20 Asian and European countries, academies of national sciences, leading scientists from Russia and foreign countries attended the forum.

Institute for Oriental Manuscripts (RAS) was established in 1818 under the name of the Asian Museum of the Academy of Sciences of the Emperor and laid the foundations of all major Oriental Studies Centers in Russia and Eurasia.

Academician A.Alizadeh met with the rector of Saint Petersburg Trade Union Humanitarian University, Professor Alexander Zapesotski, and discussed the prospects of cooperation.

Consul General of Azerbaijan in St. Petersburg Sultan Gasimov and chief of Press and Information Office of ANAS Presidium Zulfugar Farzaliyev also attended the meeting.
