Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A presentation ceremony of the book "Photo and word" by Shirmammad Nazarli, the director of the Public Relations Department of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, was held at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS.

Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijani Press Council Mushfig Alasgarli spoke about the importance of the book in the study of the photojournalism art. He noted that in the material, the author presents the unity of the photography through the journalistic theory and the images he has based on his experience. The book is intended for future journalists, photo lovers, professional photographers, and mass readers.

Editor-in-chief of “525th newspaper” Rashad Majid, dean of journalism faculty of Baku State University Vugar Aliyev, associate of “Khalg” newspaper, honored journalist Tahir Aydinoglu, chairman of Azerbaijan Photographers Union Mirnaib Hasanoglu and others shared their views on the publication.

It was noted that the book includes the history of photography, development stages, the world of photography, the role of photography as well as commodities, the role of photography in Azerbaijan, the role and place of photography in the genre, attitude to the photo in the editorials and other issues. The author gives recommendations to future photojournalists on the basis of his own experience and private photographs he presents. Shirmammad Nazarli clarifies the ways in which the role of word in photography is based on his experience, the heritage of world masters of photography, the work of well-known photojournalists. He also presents her photographs as visual aids when talks about the interview, portrait, landscape and other photo genres.

At the end, the author thanked the participants of the event.
