International conference "Russia-Azerbaijan. World oil industry development. Events and People" has been held Russian State Oil and Gas University named after I.Gubkin dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Balakhani-Black City pipeline and the 90th anniversary of prominent scientist, State Prize Laureate, Honored Science and Technician, academician Azad Mirzajanzade.

Opening the conference, rector of the Russian State Oil and Gas University Viktor Martynov called Baku one of the world's oil production centers. Speaking about the history of oil production in Baku, the rector talked about the development of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan in this area.

Speaking about the importance of the scientific heritage of academician A.Mirzajanzadeh in the field of oil and gas industry, V.Martinov said that the Russian State Oil and Gas University will create an audience that will be named after the prominent scientist.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu underlined that Baku oil was supplying the frontier during the Great Patriotic War.

National leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev personally met with A.Mirzajanzadeh and always supported his activities, said Bulbuloglu, proposing the establishment of a scholarship named after A.Mirzajanzade.

Speaking at the event, President of the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis, academician Fazil Gurbanov emphasized the history of the first pipeline constructed in 1878 in Balakhani and "Black City" oil refineries in Azerbaijan. Highly appreciating the scientific activity of academician A.Mirzajanzade, F.Gurbanov noted that the scientist, engaged in scientific and pedagogical activity, has great services in the preparation of highly qualified personnel.

A.Mirzajanzadeh has been the author of more than 400 scientific works, more than 50 inventions and patents, the speaker added.

Then speeches of representatives of some Russian scientific and public organizations were heard.

The conference continued on sessions.
