Republican Seismic Survey Center makes annual report at the meeting of the Division of Earth Sciences

The next meeting of the Division of Earth Sciences of ANAS was held.

Vice-president of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, academician-secretary of the Division, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, directors of relevant scientific institutions and employees of the relevant organizations participated at the event at the Republican Seismic Survey Center (RSSC).

The academic secretary of the Division, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov informed the participants about the issues on the agenda.

Later he presented diplomas to the General Director of the RSSC, Corresponding Member of ANAS Gurban Yetirmishli, who was awarded the first place award in the International Ecological Competition "EcoWorld-2018" by Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and the name of “Professor” given by the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, the report on the scientific and scientific-organizational activity of the Republican Seismic Survey Center in 2018 was listened. Presenting the report, G.Yetirmişli said that the number of earthquakes and the amount of seismic energy in the territory of Azerbaijan, including the Caspian Sea in 2017, has dropped. He noted that around 7,000 earthquakes were recorded in 35 seismic power stations in Azerbaijan this year. G.Yetirmişli noted that the strongest earthquake in Azerbaijan in 2018 occurred in Zagatala 5.5 magnitudes in June.

G.Yetirmişli also noted that in current year RSSC published 7 themes on 5 problems, 20 scientific researches have been carried out, gained results published 25 scientific articles (7 of them with impact factor 14 abroad) and 9 dissertations and 46 references in “google academy” have been registered.

Discussions were held after the report was listened.

At the end a number of current issues were discussed.
