United Veterans Council held next meeting

The next meeting of the United Veterans Council of ANAS was held.

The chairmen of veteran councils of scientific institutions and organizations attended the event, which took place at the main building of the Academy.

Pasha Zamanov, the chairman of the Veterans Council of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry comemorated with a minute of silence.

The chairman of the meeting, Eldar Guliyev, made a speech on the work done by the UVC in 2018. He said that the council was operating, in accordance with the "Law on Veterans" approved by national leader Heydar Aliyev on June 28, 1998. He noted that the document provides for social and legal protection of veterans, provision of living space, labor law without any limitation, participation in socially useful activities.

Presently, 1633 veterans work at the Academy, 29 of them are academicians, 37 are Corresponding Members of ANAS, 224 of them are doctor of sciences and 553 of them are PhDs. He also said that 1 Great Patriotic War, 16 are war veterans and 4 Armed Forces veterans.

According to the order of academician Akif Alizadeh, Academy Chairman of the Board about veterans working in scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS, necessary measures have been taken in the year.

E.Guliev then instructed the chairmen of veteran councils of scientific institutions and organizations on the renewal of lists of war veterans.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief of the Press and Information Office of the Presidium of ANAS, Deputy Chairman of the UVC Zulfugar Farzaliyev made a speech at the meeting.

The chairmen of veteran councils of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, Petrochemical Processes and Geographical Institutions made their suggestions.

At the end a number of current issues were considered.
