Nakhchivan Division held a scientific conference on “The great poet and thinker of Azerbaijan: Imadaddin Nasimi” devoted the to Imadaddin Nasimi’s 650th anniversary, outstanding representative of Azerbaijani literature and philosophical thought.

Head of the Division, academician Ismail Hajiyev, opened the event and noted that, the announcement of 2019 - “The Year of Nasimi” according to the Order of AR President Ilham Aliyev is important in terms of studying the heritage of Nasimi. The scientist noted that, in accordance with the Action Plan approved by the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan Vasif Talibov was organized a number of events in Nakhchivan.

Systematic research and propaganda of the poet’s heritage in our country, coincide in time with the 600th anniversary of Nasimi, initiated by national leader Heydar Aliyev. Since the time when the 600th anniversary of the great master of the word has been included in the UNESCO list for the celebration of anniversaries of prominent personalities and significant events, it has been marked internationally. In recent years, a cycle of events aimed at perpetuating Nasimi’s memory was carried out, his vivid image in literature and art was created, and a monument to him was erected in the capital of our country.

During the event, was delivered a report on “National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the Legacy of Nasimi” by the Director of the Institute of Art, Language and Literature, corresponding member of ANAS Abulfaz Guliyev and others.
