ANAS Institute of Geography after academician Hasan Aliyev held a meeting of the academic council in devoted to “Science Day”. Academician-Secretary of ANAS Division of Earth Sciences, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, highly appreciated the activities and achievements of the institute.

Deputy Director of the Institute, Associate Professor Maharram Hasanov delivered a report on “The current state, prospects and priorities of geographical science in Azerbaijan”.

According to the institute's research, the scientist said that in the near future it is necessary to develop scientific theoretical and practical bases of landscape planning, study the biodiversity of mountain and lowland landscapes under strong anthropogenic pressure, and establish the basis for their optimization.

It is necessary to create an electronic database of socio-economic development of individual regions, demographic processes, to explore the geographical problems of labor resources, tourism and recreation and the effective use of local natural resources.

In conclusion, the participants got acquainted with the exhibition, organized on the occasion of “Science Day”.
