Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

An international scientific conference titled " Magtymguly Pyragy as a symbol of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan brotherhood" dedicated to the life and work of prominent Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy was held in the Central Scientific Library of ANAS on June 27.

The event was organized by the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in our country.

In the foyer, an exhibit about M. Pyragy's creativity and culture of Turkmenistan was demonstrated.

Opening the conference, vice-president of ANAS, director of the Institute of Literature, academician Isa Habibbeyli emphasized the importance of studying and publishing the precious heritage of great thinker Magtymguly Pyragy in the development of literary-cultural relations between our countries.

Academician I.Habibbeyli characterized the great poet of the brotherly Turkmen people Magtymguly Pyragy as a prominent figure of the Turkic-Muslim world and generally humanity, having common roots and rich traditions. The scientist emphasized that Pyragy’s poetry is the epic of the glorious history of the Turkmen people.

Then, speaking at the International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation, Gunay Efendiyeva importance of the international conference devoted to the great Turkmen poet M.Pyragy.

G. Afandiyeva talked about the connection of prominent representative of general classical Turkic classical literature Magtymguly Pyragy with Azerbaijan, publication and research of his literary heritage in our country.

The ambassador of Turkmenistan in our country Mekan Ishankuliev spoke about friendship and brotherhood between our peoples and expressed confidence that the event will contribute to the development of literary relations between the two countries. He noted that the creation of poems by the pseudonym " Pyragy ", covers the important period of Turkmen literature. The ambassador thanked the event organizers for the attention shown to M. Pyragy 's creativity in Azerbaijan.

In the end, a film dedicated to prominent Turkmen poet M.Pyragy was screened.
