A seminar dedicated to March 1, World Civil Defense Day, was held in the Second Special Department of the Presidium of ANAS.

The event was attended by the head of the civil defense department of the Yasamal district of the Ministry of Emergencies Ilgar Safarov, as well as the heads of the civil defense headquarters of scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS.

Opening the seminar, head department Eldar Guliyev, spoke about the history and goals of this significant day. It was noted that World Civil Defense Day is celebrated annually on March 1. In 1931, at the initiative of several states, the French General of Health Georges Saint-Paul founded the “Geneva Zones Association” - “security zones” in Paris, to create, through bilateral and multilateral agreements, local security zones in all countries.

Subsequently, the Association was transformed into the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO). In 1972, ICDO received the status of an intergovernmental organization. The World Civil Defense Day, established in 1990, is celebrated in the ICDO member countries in order to draw the attention of the world community to the importance of Civil Protection and to increase the preparedness of the population to self-defense in the event of disasters or accidents, as well as to pay tribute to the efforts and self-sacrifice of personnel of national services civil protection in their disaster management.

He said that the events dedicated to the International Civil Defense Day in 2020 will be held under the slogan “Civil defense and a lifeguard in every house”, and gave appropriate instructions to the chiefs of staff.

Speaking further, head of the Civil Defense Department of the Yasamal district Ilgar Safarov, praised the organization of emergency training for the Academy staff.

In conclusion, a number of current issues were scheduled.
