Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

An online presentation of the collection, prepared on the basis of the materials of the international scientific conference “The structure of mounds: mounds and funeral rites in the Caucasus, Northwest Iran and Eastern Anatolia”, which took place in Florence (Italy), took place.

The event was held with the joint organizational support of the Center for Research of the Ancient Mediterranean Basin and the Middle East (Italy) and the National Center for Scientific Research of France.

At the video presentation, which was brought together archaeologists from the USA, Turkey, Germany, Italy, France, England, Russia, Georgia and Iran, our country was represented by the head of the department of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, PhD in History Zaur Hasanov.

The event was opened by the professor of the University of Catania (Italy) Nicola Laneri and the professor of the University of Nice - Sofia Antipolis (France) Giulio Palumbi. About the book being presented and the studies that are planned to be carried out in the future, said Professor of New York University (USA) Karen Robinson.

Then Z. Hasanov delivered a lecture “Funeral rites on the example of the Khojaly and Mingachevir mounds: their connection with the Scythian-Saka mounds of Central Asia and the Northern Black Sea region”.

Noted that the new edition embraces articles by employees of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, PhDs in History Bakhtiyar Jalilov, Zaur Hasanov and Muzaffar Huseynov.
