Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The Institute of Architecture and Art of ANAS hosted an online republican scientific conference on "The image of Nizami in the art of Azerbaijan" within the framework of the Year of Nizami.

Opening the event, the vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli praised Nizami's creativity in the development of world culture and stressed its universal significance. He also noted that within the framework of the Year of Nizami, various events dedicated to the poetic and philosophical heritage of the great humanist poet are planned to be held in the scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS. According to the academician, a big event is planned to be held in Nizami's homeland together with the Ganja Branch of ANAS, as well as an international conference on this topic.

Then the director of the institute, corresponding member of ANAS Artegin Salamzade made a report entitled "The image of Nizami in monumental sculpture". The scientist noted that in many countries of the world there are monumental statues and busts of Nizami, authored by Azerbaijani and foreign artists.

At the conference, the head of the Department of Music History and Theory, academician Zemfira Safarova made a report on Nizami's ghazals in the works of Uzeyir Hajibeyli.
