ANAS Young Scientists and Specialists commemorated victims of Khojaly genocide

ANAS Young Scientists and Specialists held commemoration event dedicated to 23rd anniversary of Khojaly genocide at main building of ANAS, February 24.

In advance, victims of tragedy were remembered for a minute of silence.

Opening the event chairman of the council PhD in physics Famin Salmanov made speech on terrible crimes took place in Khojali February 1992. This tragedy has been legally estimated by national leader Heydar Aliyev for the first time. Delivering to the world facts such as, genocide and terror policy of Armenians carried out against Azerbaijanis, shifting Nagorno Karabakh into nest of terror after occupation of our lands by Armenian armed forces etc. have been identified as key tasks in foreign policy of Azerbaijan by national leader. At his initiative dated February 24, 1994 Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan made a decision “On the day of the Khojaly genocide” clarifying the essence of this massacre and challenged UN and world states to take effective measures against Armenian terrorism, he noted.

F. Salmanov noted that, currently a number of world’s countries recognize this genocide act committed by Armenians, and promo natured measures on the tragedy are taken.

“Justice for Khojaly” International promotion and information campaign proposed by vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva implements vital works in terms of promoting this tragedy committed not only against our people but also against humanity, he brought to mind.

Azerbaijan youth must never forget Khojaly genocide and fight for declaring these atrocities to the world until justice is being recovered.

Senior researcher of National privacy and Armenian researchers department of the Institute of Human Rights and Law Esmira Orujova, Azerbaijan Diaspora department of the Institute of History Raisa Jafarova, chief of Natural Sciences department of Baku Pedagogical Institute for Specialization and Retraining, senior lecturer Yusif Aliyev, employee of the Institute of Literature PhD in philology Aygun Baghirova and others stressed out that, crimes like Khojaly must not remain unpunished.
