Monitoring outputs on “Language of TV news programs” announced

Pursuant to “State Program on the usage of Azerbaijan language according to modern demands in globalized condition and development of linguistics in the country”, employees of Monitoring department of theInstitute of Linguistics carried out monitoring in January-April months of the current year.

On April 17, main building of ANAS hosted for press-conference dubbed “Language of TV news programs” of monitoring outputs joint with Institute of Linguistics andTelevision and Radio Broadcasting (TRB).

Language of the news and various programs have been examined in the monitoring covering 6 TV channels (Ictimai TV, ANS TV, ATV, Space TV, Lider TV and Khazar TV), and reviewed language programs in compliance with the language norms.

Opening the conference director of the institute, acad. Tofig Hajiyev spoke about done fulfillment related in execution of State Program as well as state-of-the-art challenges of literary language usage in mass media, including TV channels.

Deputy Chairman of TRB, prof. Gafar Jabiyev brought to mind setbacks attracting attention during latest monitoring, and specially noted the significance of the monitoring in preventing language shortcomings.

Then, chief of Monitoring department, prof. Gulu Maharramli provided information on the trainings to be held in May jointly Institute of Linguistics and TRB.

Leading researcher of the institute, group supervisor for TV monitoring Shahlar Mammadli told about outputs of monitoring carried out relying on statistic analyzes and observed language shortcomings. Totally, 400 norms and language violations were found during monitoring, more than 145 patterns were involved in study. 74 of them are lexical-stylistic, 29 phonetic, while 41 grammatical language defects.

Finally, questions of mass media were responded.
