Presidium of ANAS held next bureau assembly of ANAS Department of Biological and Medical Sciences (DBMS).

Academician-secretary of the department, acad. Ahliman Amiraslanov provided information about issues on the agenda.

Later on, lab head of the Institute of Physiology, corresponding member of ANAS Rafig Gasimov delivered lecture on “Key directions of Aquaculture development in Azerbaijan”.

Recent years, biological resources, including fish stocks are being declined in water basins in the world, even the some species are of extinct. Main causes are rivers flowing into the sea and ocean waters are damaged by anthropogenic impacts, prey of bio resources is not properly organized, failure to comply with the accepted conventions, including the lack of conditions for fish breeding and seed development. Currently, food problem, food safety issues concern humanity, he stated.

Being one of the protein sources, fish and fish products has decreased sharply in recent years, said the reporter and highlighted the importance of finding alternative ways in this direction. The most efficient way to breed fish and aquatic organisms under conditions of aquaculture: “Vital fulfillments are being carried out in this field. Aquaculture provides 10-25% demand for fish and fish products in Norway, Denmark, U.S., Israel, Finland, Canada, Japan, and China”.

Lecture was discussed and questions were responded. Corresponding members of ANAS Tofig Mammadov, Valida Alizadeh, Novruz Guliyev, Ilham Alakbarov proposed their suggestions.

New staff of Academic Council of the Institute of Physiology, to add “Gene diversity of phytoplasmas spreading in Azerbaijan” manuscript into thematic publishing plan of ANAS for 2015 has been discussed.

Admission to dissertate for PhD training at organizations of the DBMS in 2012-2014 was scheduled in the event as well.
