Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

A regular meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held on December 29.

The meeting was attended by the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, other members of the Presidium - academicians Arif Hashimov, Ibrahim Guliyev, Dilgam Tagiyev, Irada Huseynova, Rasim Aliguliyev, Govhar Bakhshalieva, Fikret Aliyev, Adil Garibov, as well as the head of the Presidium of ANAS, Doctor of philosophy in philology, associate professor Seyfal Hasanov, Acting Head of the Department of Affairs Fikret Aliyev and relevant persons.

Opening the meeting with an introductory speech, the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev brought to attention the issues on the agenda.

Then academician Ramiz Mehdiyev presented Certificates of Honor of ANAS on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of corresponding members of ANAS Mahammad Babanly and Islam Mustafayev.

Then a number of scientific and organizational issues were discussed, first of all, the issue of approving the nomenclature of ANAS positions was considered.

Academician Arif Hashimov, who spoke on this issue, noted that there was a need to revise the nomenclature of ANAS positions, for this a new draft was prepared, which, after coordination with all relevant structures, was submitted to the Presidium of ANAS.

After discussions the nomenclature of positions was approved.

The next question put up for discussion was about awarding the employees of the journal “Science and life” with an Honorary Decree of ANAS. Taking into account the special merits in the long-term activities of the journal "Science and life", it was decided to award the Honorary Decree of the ANAS to the editor-in-charge, doctor of philosophy in philology Agagusein Shukurov and the former editor-in-chief of the journal Ulker Huseynova.

Another issue put up for discussion by the Presidium was related to the holding of the V Conference "Electronic Infrastructures for the Eastern Partnership countries" with the support of the European Commission.

Academician Rasim Aliguliyev noted that the conference will discuss issues of electronic science and electronic infrastructure organized within the framework of the EaPConnect project in order to coordinate research and educational communities in the countries of the European Union and the Eastern Partnership. Considering the above, an appropriate decision was made.

Then, at the event, decisions were made to hold the 75th anniversary of academician Garib Mammadov, the 85th anniversary of academicians Parviz Mammadov and Maharram Babayev, the 90th anniversary of academician Mammad Salmanov, the 75th anniversary of corresponding member of ANAS Ismayil Ismayilov and the 90th anniversary of corresponding member of ANAS Tahsin Mutallimov.

In addition, it was decided to hold international conferences “Molecular spectroscopy” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of academician Latif Imanov and “Physics of composite structures” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of academician Muhhammadamin Shakhtakhtinsky.

A number of personnel issues were also considered at the meeting. Doctor of philosophy in history Akif Guliyev was approved by the scientific secretary of the Institute of Archeology, Ethnography and Anthropology of ANAS, doctor of philosophy in political sciences Zaur Aliyev was approved by the scientific secretary of the Institute of the History of Science ANAS, doctor of philosophy in chemistry Ziyaret Pashayeva was approved by the scientific secretary of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes named after academician Yusif Mammadaliyev of ANAS, doctor of philosophy in biology Sara Aliyeva was approved by the scientific secretary of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS.

In conclusion, academician Arif Hashimov informed about the results of the meeting of the delegation headed by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician Alexander Sergeev, with the scientific community of the republic in ANAS and the signing ceremony of the “Azerbaijani-Russian Roadmap for Cooperation in science, innovation and education”. Academician A.Hashimov noted that the visit of RAS representatives to Azerbaijan creates new opportunities in terms of further expansion of scientific ties between the two structures and the implementation of joint research. He added that a special issue of the weekly publication of the Presidium of ANAS-the newspaper "Elm" ("Science"), dedicated to the visit of the delegation headed by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences to our country on November 25-27, was published. As a result of the discussions, an appropriate decision was made following the results of the official visit of the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Summing up the results of the event, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev congratulated the members of the Presidium of ANAS on the Day of Solidarity of Azerbaijanis of the World and the New Year, wished them success in their further scientific activities.
