Academician Arif Hashimov met with full and corresponding members of the Departments of Earth and Chemical Sciences of ANAS

On May 11, Acting President of ANAS, Academician Arif Hashimov met with full and corresponding members of the Departments of Earth and Chemical Sciences of the Academy.

 The meeting was held as a follow-up to the General Meeting of the Academy on April 27, 2022.

Opening the event, Acting President of ANAS, Academician Arif Hashimov said that the purpose of the meeting was to listen to existing problems and identify their solutions, as well as to ensure the dynamics of development of Azerbaijani science using the current potential of the Academy, as well as discuss future action plans and directions. is to do.

Recalling that the final decision was adopted at the General Meeting of the Academy on April 27, 2022 and the document gave certain instructions to the scientific departments, academician Arif Hashimov said that the departments of Earth and Chemical Sciences are one of the main pillars of ANAS. Academician Arif Hashimov stressed the importance of the proposals to be voiced at the event, and said that after the meetings with members of other departments, the relevant decision will be made on the basis of proposals made at the next meeting of the Presidium of ANAS.

Speaking at the event, member of the Department of Chemical Sciences, Academician Abel Maharramov said that research conducted in the departments of Earth and Chemical Sciences of ANAS since the middle of the last century has made significant contributions to the formation of the economy of our republic. He noted that scientists from the Department of Earth Sciences played a special role in the extraction and refining of oil, and scientists from the Department of Chemical Sciences in the production of chemical products. Academician Abel Maharramov shared his views on ensuring the dynamics of development of Azerbaijani science.

Member of the Department of Chemical Sciences, Academician Vagif Farzaliyev presented to the meeting participants proposals on further development of the High Technology Park of ANAS, training of young personnel, sending them for internships abroad in priority areas and social problems in order to apply scientific research to production.

Academician Vagif Abbasov, a member of the Department of Chemical Sciences, also spoke at the meeting and made proposals to increase funding for the Academy, coordinate grant projects, hold new elections for full and corresponding members of ANAS in necessary specialties and close participation of ANAS in research in Karabakh.

Touching upon the importance of the event, member of the Department of Earth Sciences, Academician Akif Alizadeh said that such meetings are important in terms of determining the future program of the Academy. Noting that the integration of science and education is one of the important issues, Alizadeh said that the activities of scientists in higher education institutions will contribute to the selection of future scientific personnel and their invitation to ANAS. He also stressed that the establishment of the Academy's own university is of special importance, and without this it will be very difficult to form new scientific schools. According to him, the organization of full education at ANAS will make an important contribution to the training of personnel in modern areas.

In addition, he stressed that it is impossible to develop without connection with the business environment, noting that the High Technology Park of ANAS is of special importance for the future of the Academy. Member of the Department of Chemical Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS Bakhtiyar Mammadov in his speech drew attention to the level of research conducted in scientific institutions and organizations. He said that today there is a need for equipment that meets modern standards for important research, as well as a number of chemicals that are difficult to find for experimental research. He also mentioned the problems related to the repair of existing equipment.

Speaking at the end, Acting President of ANAS, Academician Arif Hashimov commented on the proposals. Noting that important research in modern scientific directions has been conducted at the Academy in recent years, A. Hashimov said that today more attention is paid to the protection of human resources of ANAS, young people are sent to practice in the world's leading scientific centers. He also spoke about the relations between the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK) and the relevant Polish body in this regard, and recommended that the proposals be submitted in writing to the Presidium.
