ANAS Nakhchivan Department held the reporting meeting dedicated to the results of the archaeological excavations conducted by Kharaba-Gilan archaeological expedition in 2015 on the territory of Ordubad region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief of ANAS Nakhchivan Department, Academician Hajiyev Ismayil informed about the studies conducted archaeological expedition, and noted the implementation of targeted measures for the study of the history of the autonomous republic.

It was noted that this year by the archeological expedition Kharaba-Gilan of Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography were conducted archaeological excavations in the place of the complex of archaeological monuments Plovdag (second necropolis), in the fortress and medieval settlements Delme, Kharaba-Gilan.

As a result of the conducted researches were received the important information on historical value.

As a result of the conducted researches were received the important information on historical value. The academician I. Hajiyev brought to attention that the employee of Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology of Nakhchivan Department also took active part in archeological excavations.

Then head of the archaeological Kharaba-Gilan expedition, PhD in history Ibrahimli Bahlul, who noted that the studies were continued in the second necropolis Plovdag (II and V of the excavation area).

In the 2nd zone of excavation – in the territory of-100 sq.m under 50-70 centimetric occupation layer of an era of average bronze it was revealed a private house, the children's grave constructed of quadrangular plates.

B.Ibrahimli noted that, the second monument investigated by expedition is the Fortress relating to the early Middle Ages to Delma. The research works which are carried out on this monument were complete.

The head of expedition reported that the third monument investigated by archeologists is a medieval urban settlement Kharaba-Gilan.

It was noted that in the area were found enameled, neemalirovannye Pottery, household pitchers and copper coins from the period Hulaguid.

Summing up, academician Ismayil Hajiyev stressed the importance of archaeological materials discovered in the study of history and ethnography of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
