By joint organization of Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Ministry of Agriculture, was held scientific conference on topic “Development of agriculture in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: current condition and prospects”.

Opening the conference chairman of department, Academician Ismayil Hajiyev spoke about done works on development of agriculture and stated that, agriculture of the republic has stepped into a new stage of development. All of these provide the rapid development of the agricultural sector in the country, as well as encouraged to meet demand for agricultural products in the country at the expense of local production.

Later on, Minister of Agriculture of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Elshad Aliyev delivered a lecture on “Dynamic development of agrarian sector and prospects”. Lecture conducts that agrarian sector is one of the leading sectors in the autonomous republic. Carrying out agrarian reforms, creating new economic sectors based on the new property relations benefited for dynamic development of agriculture here.

According to E.Aliyev, implementing the measures approved by the state program, strengthening reclamation and irrigation measures, enhancing leasing services, increasing the capacity of grain and refrigerated warehouses, commissioning of greenhouses, poultry and fish farms, fruit and vegetable plants paved the way for the development of agriculture in the autonomous republic as well.

Chief department of the Ministry of Agriculture of NAR Asgar Hasanov reported on "Genetic fund conservation and food security", director of the Institute of Bio-resources of the Nakhchivan Branch, Academician Tariel Talibov on "Fruit and vegetable growing in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: opportunities and prospects", chief of the Scientific-organization division of the Branch, PhD in Agriculture Orkhan Bagirov on “Agronomic stone fruit crops in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic", head of the laboratory of the Institute of Bio-resources, PhD in Agriculture, Associate professor Parviz Fatullayev on "Creation of wheat varieties resistant to the stress factors in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic", senior researcher of the same institute, PhD in Agriculture, Associate professor Loghman Bayramov "Gene fund of an apple in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic" in the event.

Discussions were held on the lecture and questions responded.
