Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

November 25, at the main building of ANAS with the organizational support of the Institute of Architecture and Art was held an event dedicated to the 110th anniversary of outstanding architect, Hero of Socialist Labor, Laureate of State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the USSR, academician Mikail Huseynov.

Opening the event President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh told about the rich contribution of activities and a prominent architect in the national architectural art of Azerbaijan. He noted that Mikayil Huseynov enriched the Azerbaijan national architectural traditions and their new quest, using modern technology, has created a valuable example of national architecture of Azerbaijan. The scientist has played a special role in the development of the Azerbaijani architecture, and his great services in training of highly qualified personnel for the country. His projects play an important role in determining the current architectural appearance of Baku.

Akif Alizadeh, reminding corresponding decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev "On conducting the 110th anniversary of Academician Mikayil Huseynov”, emphasized that the present regulation is a good example of the attention paid to science and architecture of Azerbaijan.

Then the chairman of the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan Republic, Professor Elbay Gasimzadeh, who noted that the Academician Mikayil Huseynov opened a new page in the modern architectural art of Azerbaijan. Noting the absence of elements related to foreign historical architecture in the works by M.Huseynov, Alban Gasimzadeh emphasized that the scientist in his work with great skill and craftsmanship used elements of historical and architectural heritage of Azerbaijan. Academician and his rich creativity contributed greatly to the national science and is the author of more than 200 works of erected architecture.

It was also noted that the Academician M.Huseynov was a famous public figure. He was the only Azerbaijani architect, awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. He was also awarded the title of People's Architect of the USSR.

Noting that the research activities of a prominent architect Mikayil Huseynov is a big research theme E.Gasimzadeh emphasized that his work should live in the history of national architecture and set an example for young architects.

Addressing the event, chancellor of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts, People's artist, Academician Omar Eldarov talked about the merits of the world-famous architect, Academician M.Huseynov in the development of the architecture of Azerbaijan.
