ANAS Institute of Genetic Resources (GRI) hosted the first meeting of the Scientific Council on genetics and selection problems of agricultural plants and animals, the Council for Coordination of Research.

The event attended by representative of ANAS and the Information and Consulting Center of Agricultural Science of the Ministry of Agriculture, famous scientists in the relevant fields of science.

At the meeting, chaired by the Director of GRI, corresponding member of ANAS Akbarov Zeynal were discussed priority issues of agricultural science, future challenges in the framework of the provisions of the Academic Council, the organization of sections and a working group of the Council, thematic plans of ANAS and the Information and Consulting Centre of Agricultural Sciences, topics of dissertations, etc.

The event were also considered due to socio-economic and cultural development of the republic's priority areas of national science, defined by the President Ilham Aliyev at the General Meeting dedicated to the 70th anniversary of ANAS, important challenges facing scientists, as well as the decision of the Presidium of ANAS on November 18, 2015, adopted in connection with the execution of these priorities and objectives.

In conclusion, it was decided to hold the next meeting of the Council in Ganja, together with research and higher educational institutions in the region.
