69th training of “Heydar Aliyev’s lectoria” was held at the Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS. Opening the training, chairman of the department Academician Ismayil Hajiyev noted that, today’s training has been devoted to one of urged and important topic, which mushroomed in a society and became one of the priority directions of government society.

It was noted that, people in Azerbaijan lived under conditions of multiculturalism and tolerance for centuries. Multiculturalism is such of policy that recognizes cultural pluralism and promotes it. It is all concerned with respect for the rights and freedoms of the population regardless of their ethnic, racial and religious diversity. National leader Heydar Aliyev laid the foundation of multiculturalism. He has taken important steps in this area. Multiculturalism policy is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, was stressed out.

In the event director of the Institute of Art, Language and Literature of Nakhchivan Department of ANAS corresponding member of ANAS Abulfaz Guliyev delivered a lecture “National leader Heydar Aliyev’s heritage and multiculturalism values”.

Thus, as a policy multiculturalism is closely related to the tolerance. It is one of the key features of a tolerant society allowing for parallel living of different cultures.

Today, the protection and promotion of the national and moral values are focused on in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Religious holidays are celebrated at the highest level, worship are organized in the mosques of Autonomous Republic in accordance with the principles of Islam, the principles of tolerance are strictly protected. Traditions arising from Islamic values are kept alive. Young people who having religious and secular knowledge, professionally qualified on Islam are spotlighted. Declaration of 2016 the "Year of Multiculturalism" increases attention to this area. Signed decree has set vital tasks forth Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences as one of the organizations mentioned there.
