Today, Presidium of ANAS hosted the assembly of Terminology Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Opening the assembly, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh stated that, defining future development of the Terminology Commission is on the agenda in today’s assembly. He noted implemented measures on terminology development, gauged published books and underlined the necessity of application of ICT to this area.

ANAS President reminded national leader Heydar Aliyev’s Order “On the improving the issue of state language” dated June 18, 2001 and stressed out that, this order has defined development trends of state language. “State Program on the using Azerbaijan language met with requirements of a modern era under condition of globalization and development of linguistics in the country” signed by President Ilham Aliyev in 2012 has set vital tasks forth scientists and forwarding definite proposals in the direction of strengthening development of commission is one of the main targets of today’s assembly, he noted.

Deputy Chairman of the Commission Professor Sayali Sadigova presented the annual report of the Terminology Commission and highlighted the significance of orders and decrees signed during the years of independence. “Recently, as a result of the Internet influence to life of society and the acceleration of people’s directly assimilating data about the different areas of knowledge of foreign languages, have complicated oversight on terminology”, said Deputy Chairman and pointed the protection of terminological database from alien effects in such circumstances and developing new terms as key tasks.

Terminology Commission under AR Cabinet of Ministers was re-organized chaired by President of ANAS, Acad. Akif Alizadeh, new structure of commission sections were approved, 16 sections connected with varied spheres of science were established, said S.Sadigova.

Then S.Sadigova informed about new terminologiya.org  site. According to her, the aim of the site is to embrace all existing terminological dictionaries in a single center in our language, assist for employees, working in the various fields of science-technology, to easily access to terms and their explaining in different languages. Site compiles data about the Commission's statutes, reports, including published books and dictionaries.

In the meeting "Glossary of terms of commercial air transport", “Glossary of Geochemistry terms” and other editions were discussed.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Writers’ Union People Poet Anar, Vice-President of ANAS Academician Isa Habibbeyli, corresponding member of ANAS Nizami Jafarov, Professor Buludkhan Khalilov reported by questions and proposed suggestions.
