On April 20, Elitar gymnasium on behalf of I. Afandiyev hosted the meeting devoted to the World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day and International Astronomy Day by joint organization of ANAS and Azerbaijan representation of the Russian Information and Culture Center.

Meeting with participation of teacher and student staff of the gymnasium was opened by Division Chief of Public Relations under Department of Public Relations and Science Popularization of the ANAS Presidium Administration Sabuhi Gahramanov, who spoke about key directions of Academy’s activity, academic studies carried out and implemented innovative projects. Making speech on state-of-the-art cooperation ties of ANAS via Azerbaijan representation of the Russian Information and Culture Center, stressed the significance of its relevance for both parties.

Then, Chief Department of Planets and Smaller Celestial Bodies of the Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) PhD in physics-math Adalat Atayi delivered a lecture on “Role of aerospace studies in astronomy, and informed on thematic exhibitions, conferences and lectures in various countries of the world on Aviation and Cosmonautics Day.

Scientist noted the special care of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev in this sphere and reminded his visit to the observatory after completion of reconstructions works in 2013.

Later on, scientist told about activities of SAO and brought to mind the researches on physics and dynamics of celestial bodies, solar physics and physics of solar-earth connections, the physics and dynamics of the bodies in a solar system. 6 telescope buildings including telescope building with of 2 meters have been overall repaired, modern light receivers were purchased for all telescopes of the observatory, special cameras and cryogen devises were installed, he stated.

Associate of Azerbaijan representation of the Russian Information and Culture Center Natig Aliyev reported at the meeting and noted the exceptional role of scientists’ meetings for the students in the secondary schools.

In closing, 8th grade student of the gymnasium Ekaterina Karalyova made presentation on astrophysics.
