ANAS "Scientists House" and Nasimi district Executive Power hosted "Scientist, who giving light to people" event dedicated to 93th anniversary of the outstanding scientist-ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

The event was attended by MPs and representatives of ANAS and higher education institutions.

The event began with the song "Dear Mama" on poems of the poet Fikrat Goja, author of the music is Sevil Aliyeva.

Event was opened by President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh and spoke about the life and activity of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, highly appreciated the valuable contribution of the scientist to the development of domestic medicine. Head of of ANAS noted that Zarifa Aliyeva was born in the family of outstanding statesman and a prominent member of the scientific community Aziz Aliyev, she always with deep tenderness treated people around: "Zarifa khanum was remembered to me by the self-sacrificing mother caring for the family. Zarifa Aliyeva was the woman who never afraid of difficulties. After mering Zarifa khanum has lived difficult and at the same time, nice life. She was donated to our people such personality as Ilham Aliyev".

Speaking about the achievements of Zarifa Aliyeva in the medical field, Academician Akif Alizadeh said that, scientist led research related to the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of various eye diseases. Then, the chief executive of Nasimi district, Ph.D. Asif Asgarov spoke about a vital way of Zarifa Aliyeva, her scientific, educational and social activities, achievements in the field of public health.

Noting that, the scientist has reached the highest peaks of medical science, he added that her research works are still relevant to this day. During the event also reported Academic Secretary of ANAS Department of Biological-Medical Sciences, Academician Ahliman Amiraslanov, who spoke about the merits of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, in the development of ophthalmology in Azerbaijan. He stressed that, the basis of all the successes and achievements of outstanding scientist lay hard work and fruitful activity. He noted that, Zarifa Aliyeva has created a research laboratory, which studies the professional pathology of the organ of vision for the first time in the world, practically laid the foundations of science in the world of professional ophthalmologists. She entered to the ophthalmology history as the first woman scientist awarded with the Academy Award of Medical Sciences after Academician M.I.Averbah, most prestigious in the field of ophthalmology.

In addition, Academician paid special attention to preparation of highly specialized young scientific shots and professional development of ophthalmologists.
