Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall on behalf Muslum Magomayev hosted a memorial evening devoted to the prominent scientist and social-political figure Academician –Veli Akhundov’s 100th anniversary, June 2.

Event, which brought together state and governmental representatives, MPs of Milli Majlis, celebrate scientific and cultural dignity, was organized in accordance with the Order of the President Ilham Aliyev “On celebrating Academician Veli Akhundov’s 100th anniversary” dated January 15, 2016.

Event commenced with the display of photo-slide, reflecting Veli Akhnudov’s way of life.

Opening the event, chairman of Azerbaijan Writers’ Union People Writer Anar characterized Veli Akhundov like a precious civilian, great and patriot person.

People Writer noted that 100th anniversary of Veli Akhundov is celebrated with chain of measures in all parts of the country according to the Order of President Ilham Aliyev.

Glancing at way of life of the one of the sparkle faces of Azerbaijan – Veli Akhundov, orator noted that, he managed Azerbaijan during difficult years. Under condition dominated by problem of Nationalism, a social figure always tried to protect moral values and culture of Azerbaijan. His political course directed to unity of people, prosperity, and ability of free thought. In this regard, Veli Akhundov’s merits are undeniable in the formation of a national ideology.

People Writer Anar also told about Veli Akhundov’s care and attention to the art people, his deeds in promotion of culture and art of Azerbaijan. Academician was attuned to Russian and world literature along with Azerbaijan.

Anar narrated the cordial relations of his father Rasul Rza with Veli Akhundov and shared memories.

Later on, “Veli Akhundov. View from XXI century” documentary, which had ordered by Ministry of Culture and Tourism, scenario authored by Yusif Sheikh and casted by Yaver Rzayev, was displayed.

National leader’s opinions that had voiced at the academician’s 80th jubilee event in 1996 were widely used in a film.

The film featured the scientist’s whole way of life, in addition to his social-political and scientific merits by his daughter Nigar Akhundova.

Event continued with a concert program, in which plays of notable composers accompanied by the State Symphony Orchestra.
