Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

ANAS Central Scientific Library hosted International Scientific Conference on "Philosophy, tolerance and multiculturalism in Azerbaijan" dedicated to the World Philosophy Day establishment by the UNESCO.

The conference was held by organizational support of the Institute of Philosophy, Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO and ANAS Council of Young Scientists and Specialists.

Opening the event, Academician-Secretary of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences, Academician Teymur Karimli told about the importance of studying the philosophy of science. He said that, the Azerbaijan people have a strong philosophical thinking.This fact instilled to the Azerbaijani people, philosophers, poets and writers tolerance and multiculturalism. T.Kerimli noted that, in Azerbaijan literature at all times met the ideas of humanism and tolerance.

Further, in his speech, Director of the Institute of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Ilham Mammadzadeh noted that, the foundations of multiculturalism, laid on the basis of philosophical approaches. Speaking about the mutual relations of philosophy and tolerance, I.Mamedzade noted that, the idea formed in ancient times.

Then, Advisor of National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO Gulnara Agalarova spoke about the importance of World Philosophy Day. She said that, established in 2005 by the initiative of UNESCO's World Philosophy Day is celebrated in many countries around the world.

Made an extensive presentation at the event, the French scientist Francois Zhorzhon and Lebanese scholar Makhmud Haidar noted that, the Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism and tolerance has a peculiar position.

Then, head of Administration of Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Law Professor Isakhan Valiyev, PhD in Philosophy Adil Asadov, Fizuli Gurbanov, Zumrud Guluzadeh, Rafiga Azimova, Zohra Aliyeva and others delivered their papers.

Reporters, speaking about the role of Azerbaijan scientists in the world of philosophy, as well as the scope of tolerance and multiculturalism existing in our country, commented on the features of these values, greatly appreciated measures implemented in our country in this direction.
