Next 73rd training of Heydar Aliyev’s lectoria held at Nakhchivan Division of ANAS was dedicated to the 93rd anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which occupies an important place in the history of Azerbaijani statehood.

At the lectoria chairman of the Division, Academician Ismayil Hajiyev brought to the attention that, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has a complex historical path of development. It was noted that, Nakhchivan has always represented an important geographical and political and strategic importance for the neighboring countries, as well as a number of countries.

The 20th of the XX century, in particular 1918-1920 was a difficult period of development of the Nakhchivan region. Despite the difficult path traversed by Nakhchivan, managed to keep his part of Azerbaijan, and assign it a status of autonomy.

It was noted that, the assignment of Nakhchivan autonomy status was made possible as a result of which took place in the region in 1918-1920, processes exposure to internal and external factors, the geopolitical situation in the region and two significant agreements.

Reminding the words of national leader Heydar Aliyev "Establishment of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic - a great historical success of the Azerbaijani people, made in rather difficult political environment", Academician Ismail Hajiyev stressed the importance of obtaining the status of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Then head of the Department of the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography of Nakhchivan Division Emin Shikhaliyev delivered a paper on "National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the question of autonomy of Nakhchivan". Speaker, noting that thousands of Azerbaijanis in different time were subjected to genocide by the Armenians, said that thanks to the determined resistance of the people, the wise policy of prominent political figures, including aid to Turkey was prevented delivery of Nakhichevan Armenians. In due time, the edge of which has kept its existence through such prominent politicians as Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, Behbud aga Shakhtakhtinski , this time after the Soviet collapse retained its integrity as a result of the political vision of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.

It was noted that, in a short period of activity of the national leader Heydar Aliyev in Nakhchivan the historical decisions were taken that contributed to the liberation of Azerbaijan from the imperial addiction, turning it into an important political and ideological factor to function as an independent, democratic and secular state.

A number of conceptual aspects of future activities of Azerbaijan as an independent state, were developed during this period. National leader has made maximum use of limited internal resources of the region, carried out the necessary measures for the development of economic relations with neighboring countries - Turkey and Iran.

It was pointed out that at present the adoption of concrete measures in the direction of solving social and economic problems of the population of the autonomous republic, the definition of the necessary areas to give impetus to development of the region, located in the blockade.

As a result of attention and care provided for the targeted implementation of the state policy in the autonomous republic is achieved success in all areas.
