Presidential Library held the presentation of the ‘Museum of Genocide’ book-album

On February 16, Presidential Library under Administrative Department of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan presented the book-album co-prepared by the Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor’s Office and the Institute of History of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. The documentary “Tragedy of the Century,” prepared by the Studio for Documentaries and Education Films of the Defense Ministry upon the order of the Military Prosecutor’s Office, was also presented during the event.

Presidential Library director Mayil Ahmadov said that as a result of successful implementation "Justice for Khojaly" international campaign, a number of states have already recognized the Khojaly massacre as genocide, but has not received a legal assessment of this crime on an international scale yet.

Recalling the Order of President Ilham Aliyev “On 25th anniversary of Khojaly genocide” dated January 24, 2017 M.Ahmadov stated that Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan has approved the Action Plan for the execution of this order.

This book-album and documentary, which prepared on the eve of 25th anniversary of Khojaly genocide, presents the scale of the genocide carried out against the people of Azerbaijan and deportations in chronological order, systematically relying on historical documents and witness statements.

Military prosecutor Khanlar Valiyev said the Museum of Genocide is dedicated to the memory of the tens of thousands of Azerbaijanis killed in the acts of genocide committed by Armenian-Bolshevik forces since the early twentieth century. The Museum consists of four sections – history, deportations and repressions, acts of genocide, and terror.

Institute of History director Yagub Mahmudov said one of the Institute’s priorities is to investigate the history of acts of genocide committed by Armenians against the Azerbaijani people. He spoke of continuation of the genocide policy against the Azerbaijani people Armenia-Azerbaijan, reminded Nagorno Karabakh conflict, including bloody tragedies committed in our territory from the night February 25 to 26, 1992 by notorious enemies.

The purpose of the Museum is to raise public awareness and provide future generations with authentic information about the genocides suffered by Azerbaijanis in the twentieth century.
