ANAS celebrated the 105th anniversary of the famous researcher of the Turkic world Lev Gumilev

Today, an event dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the outstanding Soviet historian-ethnologist, orientalist, writer, poet and translator Lev Gumilev was held at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS with the joint organizational support of the House of Scientists and the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi.

Speaking at the event, Director of the House of Scientists, Ph.D. in history Nurida Guliyeva spoke about the life and scientific work of an outstanding scientist. She also noted that L. Gumilev, not fearing anything, wrote only the truth about the Turkic peoples, which covered more than half of the territory of the former USSR, as well as the contributions of the Turks to the world civilization.

Speaking then Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that L. Gumilev always experienced great sympathy and love for the Turks. The scientist said that according to the concept advanced by the scientist, the friendly ties between the Slavs and the Turks gradually turned into a way of life of Eurasia.

The Vice-President of ANAS said that the books of the outstanding scientist "Ethnogenesis and the biosphere of the earth", "Ancient Turks", "Millennium around the Caspian", "End and again the beginning", "Detailed political history of the first Turkic kaganate" and other fundamental works changed the view " Wild people "against the Turks in the USSR.

Director of the Lev Gumilev Center in Moscow Pavel Zarifullin in his speech noted that the scientist was born into a family of outstanding personalities of Russian and world literature - the poets Anna Ahmadova and Nikolai Gumilev. It was noted that the scientist was imprisoned for his studies of the Turkic peoples, but, in spite of this, thanks to his strong will, was subsequently accepted by his opponents as a prominent historian, and prepared a generation of new historians.

On the occasion, Tofig Melikli, President of the Cultural Center "Ojag", Director of the Institute of Linguistics, Academician Mohsun Nagysoylu, Chief Scientist of the Department of Ancient Languages and Cultures of the Institute, Doctor of Philology, Professor Ilhami Jafarsoy and others spoke about the historical significance of the researches of the scientist connected with the Turkic peoples.
