Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

June 22-23, 2017 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, held a regional meeting dedicated to the "Creating Innovations for Sustainable Development" of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia SPECA. In addition, the 9th session of the SPECA Working Group on Knowledge-Based Development.

The event attended by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), representatives of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium, Belarus, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and other countries.

The meeting held discussions on regional views on creating innovations for sustainable development, the role of eco-innovations and social innovations in this area, the promotion of social entrepreneurship, the role of government in creating an enabling environment for attracting investments to support sustainable development.

An employee of the High Technologies Park of ANAS Vusal Suleymanli made a presentation on the theme "Development of the knowledge economy and innovation ecosystem with a scientific, state, industrial basis in Azerbaijan". V. Suleymanly spoke about the works carried out for the purposes of sustainable development in our country, the current state of the start-up ecosystem and the plan of activities in this area.

At the 9th session of the knowledge-based SPECA Working Group on Development, a program of activities for 2018-2019 was adopted.
