ANAS hosted a meeting with Colombian writer Konrado Zuluaga

At the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS was held a meeting with Colombian writer, professor Konrado Zuluaga.

After Azerbaijan gained its independence, scientific relations with other countries were strengthened and developed. Today's meeting will give impetus to the development of scientific relations between the two countries, Vice-President of the ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli noted.

Habibbeyli emphasized that Colombian legendary writer, Nobel Prize laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s works translated into Azerbaijani and especially the novel "One hundred years of solitude” liked by readers. He said that the magic realism, founded by academician Markes, is found in the literature of Azerbaijani writers such as Y.V.Chamanzaminli, Yusif Samadoglu and Movlud Suleymanli and that this similarity allows to compare literature of two countries.

At the event, K.Zuliaga thanked for hospitality and said that Markes would be an indispensable bridge in strengthening the scientific relations between the two countries in the future. He then talked personal acquaintance with Markes and about his and novel "One hundred years of solitude".

Then, the employee of the Institute, Ph.D. in philology Cavidan Mammadova made a report entitled "Translating and studying the works of G.G.Markes in Azerbaijan".

At the end, the guest was presented the publications of the Institute of Literature.
