Within the framework of the grant project of the Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was held a presentation of the historical and ethnographic research work "Baskal, co-authored by Tofig Babayev and Tahir Shahbazov.

At the presentation ceremony held at the Culture House of Ismayilli, Executive Director of the Fund Elchin Babayev emphasized that, declared in 1989the Baskal State Historical and Cultural Reserve is one of the unique settlements that have brought to our days elements of medieval urban culture with their planned structure, architectural features, historical monuments and traditions of craftsmanship.

He noted that, Baskal historically was more famous for the production of silk products, in particular, the art of Kalagai. Back in the distant past, the kelagai prepared in elegant design by the Baskal craftsmen were widely known in the countries of the East and Europe. From time to time, these products have become prizewinners of various international exhibitions and to this day continue to act as valuable exhibits of the world's famous museums. It is no coincidence that in the face of the bashgal Kalagai the Azerbaijani Kälagai was included in 2014 in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.

It was stressed that, the research work, which is consisting of 344 pages, is devoted to the historical-archeological and ethnographic research of the settlement of Baskal entering the administrative-territorial unit of Ismayilli district, located at the foot of the Niyaldagh ridge on the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus. The scientific editor of the book is Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Gafar Jabiyev, reviewers are the chief researcher of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Doctor of Historical sciences, Professor Maya Guliyeva, leading researcher of the Institute, Ph.D. in History Asad Aliyev. On March 13, 2014, the research work was registered with the Copyright Agency of Foundation for the Development of Science.

The book, written on the basis of literary and informational data is intended for the scientific community and a wide readership.
