Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

60 years has passed since the establishment of the Institute of Economy of ANAS. On October 18, the International Conference on "Economic Growth and Social Welfare" was held in the Conference Hall of the ANAS Main Building.

The participants of the conference first came to the Alley of Honor and commemorated the memory of the prominent political figure, national leader Heydar Aliyev and laid a wreath on his grave.

The participants laid a wreath on well-known ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva’s grave also.

The event started with a performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh opened the conference with participation of state and government officials, high school rectors and well-known economist scientists. Speaking about the important role of the Institute of Economy in solving socio-economic problems in the country, which contributes to the development of our science, the scientist's team congratulated on this remarkable day.

Noting the achievements of the Institute of Economy in recent years, the head of ANAS highly appreciated its activity and expressed confidence that it will have a strong impact on the rapid development of the country's economy.

The President of ANAS spoke about national leader Heydar Aliyev's historic services for the development of the Azerbaijani economy both during the Soviet era and during independence years and emphasized the successful socio-economic strategy of the genius leader on the basis of the successes achieved in our country.

Director of the Institute of Economy, Professor Nazim Imanov spoke about the innovations in the life of his scientific institution, the results achieved and the purposeful reforms, fundamental research which attracts the attention of foreign academic circles. N.Imanov said that the main goal in perspective is to turn the institute into the real center of fundamental economic researches in Azerbaijan, the main coordinator of economic research in the country, the government's collegial expert and consultant.

Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship of the Milli Majlis, academician Ziyad Samadzadeh, rector of the Azerbaijan State Economic University, Professor Adalat Muradov, Department chief of the Institute of Economics, Professor Tofig Huseynov, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Chinese Institute of Social Sciences, Professor Pei Chanhunga, Acting member of the Academy of Sciences Vladimir Papava, director of the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician Valery Geyets, Executive Director of the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication Vusal Gasimli and others congratulated the staff on the jubilee and wished success in future scientific activities.

Within the framework of the event, cooperation agreements were signed between the Institute of Economy and several foreign scientific centers, as well as the winners of the scientific articles contest among young economists were awarded.

In addition, the chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Economy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Pei Chanhunga has been awarded the Honorary Doctorate of the Institute of Economy of ANAS.

The conference continued its work on "Enhancing Economic Growth", "Economic Activities and Social Protection" and "Social Welfare Improvement". Sessions of scientists and experts on different spheres of economy were discussed at the department sessions and discussions were held.
